CMG hosts Chinese Language Day and Video Festival in Geneva

   A 2025 United Nations Chinese Language Day event and the 5th CMG Chinese Language Video Festival was held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on April 15.

  Co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG), international organizations and the UN Office at Geneva – and as a prelude to UN Chinese Language Day observed annually on April 20 – the event brought together over 300 guests from 50 countries, including diplomats, representatives of international organizations and cultural advocates.

  This year's theme, "A Journey to China," focused on telling China's story through the eyes of international friends. In a video address, CMG President Shen Haixiong emphasized China's vitality in the new era, its role in global prosperity and the importance of cultural exchanges in building a shared future. He expressed hope that the event would inspire more international friends to visit China, explore its opportunities and discover a land rich with promise and potential.

  Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, praised Chinese as one of the world's oldest and most influential languages, calling it a vital bridge for intercultural dialogue. Chen Xu, ambassador and permanent representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, noted that the annual celebration of Chinese Language Day at the Palais des Nations highlights the UN's commitment to cultural diversity and mutual understanding.

  Winners from previous editions of the video festival shared their travel stories and cultural experiences in China during a2025 United Nations Chinese Language Day event and the 5th CMG Chinese Language Video Festival held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on April 15,2025./CMG 

  The event featured a screening of CMG's AI-translated micro-documentary "On the Trail of the Chinese Dragon" and a promotional video from the "China Travel with Chinese Films" campaign. Guests also enjoyed exhibitions which showcased Chinese culture.

  Winners from previous editions of the video festival shared their travel stories and cultural experiences in China. This year's video submissions will remain open until the end of May, with results to be announced in June.
